San Antonio, Texas

24 november 2013 - Boyd, Texas, Verenigde Staten

Through our website ATPI insite I have used GT our log-in to book a car at Dallas airport. A Ford SUV from 23-30 October. Paid USD282 all inclusive rate, including extra driver and a full tank. Wes my niece husband brought us to Dallas airport to take the car. The payment I have settled with a credit card. So easy, but just for sure I phoned Alamo rentals before we went to Dallas and indeed the reservation is all confirmed and paid!
Dallas airport is big, but the car rentals are all situated in one building at the airport and the signs going there are clearly shown.
At the rental we got in upgrade, a bigger SUV Dodge Journey with everything in it, a new modern car. The key isn't necessary to start the car but as long as it is in the car it would start. It is a comfortable automatic car to travel.
We took the car and drove the highway 35 to San Antonio, passing through small cities. We stopped from time to time to look around, eat Taco's on the way. In Texas are a lot of Mexican restaurants, and they served very good Taco's, fajetas etc.
We passed through Austin which is the capital of Texas. Then drove to San Antonio. We came around 1900 hours, so in total it was something like 6hrs drive.
We have stayed at Red Roof Inn, 3 blocks to the Rivetwalk. We had an upgraded room to a king size with free WiFi, and all fascilities in it. It was a nice, spacious room for USD88 including, breakfast and tax, and the parking which is really reasonable!
We have dropped our luggage and went to the city. The temperature was good to walk around the city.
There were a lot of hotels around the city, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Hampton Inn, Best Western and several Inns!
The Alamo Plaza is lighted, and the famous River walk looked really nice. It was Thursday yet there were a lot of people out, drinking and wasting. All kinds of Cafe's, restaurants, pubs along the river. It is all lighted and the road along the water is well made so one could stroll around comfortably. They said it is Venice in America. But it is more attractive, more greens around more accessible!
We have chosen to eat in one of those Mexican Restaurants, with live music. I have ordered Sangria which was good and Willy Budweiser light, an American beer. We have ordered Taco's and some salad. It was good. They served always guacamole with Nacho's while waiting!
