Sunday, 13 October 2013:On the way to Dallas

16 oktober 2013 - Dallas, Texas, Verenigde Staten

Left home, Dordrecht/NL at 07:15 hours . Willy drove the car with me and the luggage to the train station. We took the train at 07:36 to Rotterdam and changed there to Fyra train (high speed). It took 25 minutes from Rotterdam to Schiphol Airport.
According to the weighing machine, my suitcase weigh 24.8 kg. To the US is 1 piece of max 23 kg allowed. So I had to remove some books, chocolates and jeans. Went back to weigh it again, it was 20,8kg. So I put some back in the suitcase!
We are booked at DL9390 to Dallas but flown with KLM aircraft AibusA330-200.
After passing through the immigration we looked around the tax free shops.. Nowadays you can spend the whole day at the airport. There is everything at Schiphol Airport, shops, restaurants, bars, Casino, lounge corners and even for a massage and pedicure you'll find it at Schiphol Airport.
We bought some souvenirs for the kids, some shot glasses for Wes and for Mel a Van Gogh purse!
Everything went flawless, check-in with e-ticket loaded on the mobile phone. So easy this these and drop the luggage at drop off corners!
Boarding on time as well as departure at 10:45 hours local time. Flying time is 09:30 hrs! The sun shines up here!

The service at KLM is very good, first we had a drink, then dinner. I have 2 sorts of "stampot", with chicken. Accompanied with Chardonnay!
The come to serve Drinkwater several times.

At this moment we just pass through New York, Baltimore. It's 1820 hours NL time. Still 2 hours to go! We flew from Ams-Dallas crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Altitude 12192m, ground speed 827km/h . height 12192 m, distance to Dallas 1348 km, outside tempetature -59 degrees. Expected arrival time13:20 local time. Time difference 7 hours.

Arrived @Dallas airport on time. Dallas is a big airport, but went everything well.
It was a long Queue at the immigration, but it went fast anyway.
My niece Mel and Wes came to pick us up at the airport oh Dallas Fort worth!
